I became a Virtual Assistant for a number of reasons which were clear to me before I even set up shop. But over time, I’ve come to realize that there are other reasons for wanting to be a VA that were not as prominent in the beginning. Oh, they were there but maybe not as crystal clear as they are today.
One of those reasons is the feeling of satisfaction I get from satisfied customers. A satisfied customer or client means a lot of things on many levels. It’s more than just someone who gets what they asked for.
First there’s the good feeling I get for a job well done. It’s knowing I’ve provided professional services to a person or business, making a significant contribution to their overall success.
Then there’s the good feeling of being able to do something that I love to do and having the opportunity to help someone else in the process. That always feels good.
Then there are the practical reasons for becoming a Virtual Assistant. A satisfied customer is more likely to continue to use my services and develop an ongoing, collaborative relationship which is the goal of most VA’s. Most of us are looking beyond short term or single project clients, although, they too have a place in our business structure and deserve the best possible support we can give them. However, it’s those long term folks who are willing to commit to a professional relationship and rely on me to manage their administrative needs who are particularly attractive. They help to make my decision to become a VA absolutely worthwhile. They understand that even though they may not see me face-to-face every day, I am an essential part of their team and have a real interest to helping them reach their long term business goals.
Another practical reason to strive for customer satisfaction is the power of word-of-mouth. Satisfied customers are happy customers who will talk about me to their colleagues, associates and friends. They’ll be happy to talk about how I went the extra distance for them and have a true vested interest in giving them even more than they expected. Word of mouth breeds referrals. Referrals often breed new clients.
So you see, there are many reasons for seeking the Satisfaction of a Satisfied Customer. It’s a two way street where everyone benefits. I get to do the work I love to do for people who need and appreciate it while my clients get the expert support they seek along with a strong working relationship with someone they know and trust. Satisfaction guaranteed!
